Students and teachers are invited to submit poems to this year’s Spring Poetry Festival. The closing date for entries is Friday 13 August, 2010. Individuals may submit a maximum of two poems. SAETA encourages teachers to select only the best entries from their classes to assist the judging panel in the selection process.
A SELECTION OF THE BEST ENTRIES WILL BE PUBLISHED IN
THE SPRING POETRY EDITION OF OPINION
The successful young poets, their families and their teachers will be invited to attend the Spring Poetry launch in Term 4, 2010.
BEST ENTRIES FROM STUDENTS IN YEAR 11 OR 12
TWO SPECIAL PRIZES OF $50 EACH
These prizes, introduced in 1991, are sponsored by the Friendly Street Poets. The winning entries will be selected by the Friendly Street Committee. In order to be considered for this award, students will need to present 3 copies of each poem they submit. In addition to the attached entry form and declaration, each copy must be clearly identified with the NAME and SCHOOL ADDRESS of the author. Friendly Street Poets will publish the poems awarded the Friendly Street Awards on their website www.friendlystreetpoets.org.au

These prizes are the South Australian Writers’ Centre Prize and the Budding Poet’s Award.
Spring Poetry Festival is open to students and teachers in Australian schools.
SAETA reserves the right to reproduced and publicise entries by press, radio, television or the internet.
There is a small entry fee per school to cover administrative costs. $10 for corporate member schools and $20 for non - member schools (90c or $1.80 GST respectively). This fee covers all entries from that school. Cheques payable to SAETA. (ABN : 457 126 41424)

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
Individuals may submit one or two poems only to the editor.
Each poem must be accompanied by an entry form, and a signed declaration. The sample form may be photocopied. However, schools may prefer to design their own.
KEEP a COPY of your work, as entries will not be returned.
To facilitate judging, poems should be TYPED, PRINTED or CLEARLY WRITTEN.
Students must submit 3 copies of their poem[s]. Each copy must be identified with the NAME and SCHOOL ADDRESS of the author. Only students who comply with these conditions will be considered.
